The Research Challenge Behind Colorado Market Expansion
When our client decided to move into the Colorado fitness market, they needed more than a rough directory search. They needed a structured, verified list of 150 gym companies — accurate enough to drive real partnership outreach and marketing decisions.
Colorado's gym landscape is spread across dense urban centers and small mountain communities, making comprehensive coverage genuinely difficult. Publicly available directories are often outdated, independent studios fly under the radar, and duplicate or closed listings clutter most search results. The client could not afford to build a campaign on unreliable data.
How We Structured the Research
Helion360 treated this as a systematic intelligence-gathering project rather than a surface-level search. We segmented the state geographically — starting with the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs, then working outward into mid-size cities and rural regions — to make sure no significant part of the market was missed.
For every entry, we cross-referenced business directories, Google Maps, state records, and official gym websites. If a listing could not be confirmed active across at least two independent sources, it was excluded. We also filtered out duplicate locations operating under common ownership and any facility that did not match the client's fitness company criteria.
The final deliverable was a clean spreadsheet with standardized fields: business name, city, contact information, facility type, and notes relevant to outreach. Every one of the 150 records was manually verified before delivery.
What the Client Received
The completed database was delivered on schedule and required no cleanup from the client's side. It covered independent gyms, boutique studios, and regional chains distributed across all major areas of Colorado — giving the client a complete view of the market, not just the most prominent names.
The structured format meant the client's team could immediately begin segmenting companies by location, type, or partnership potential. There was no gap between delivery and action. The database fed directly into their go-to-market planning, and the client had a clear, reliable foundation for every conversation that followed.
