The Sourcing Problem Behind the Growth Ceiling
Growing an Amazon FBA business through online arbitrage sounds straightforward until the sourcing process becomes the bottleneck. That was exactly the situation our client faced. They had the infrastructure, the seller account, and the appetite to scale — but their product research was inconsistent, manual, and difficult to replicate across team members.
Without a clear framework for evaluating demand, competition density, and supplier viability, their sourcing decisions were driven more by intuition than evidence. The result was a mix of strong performers and underperforming SKUs that ate into both margin and momentum.
Building a Framework, Not Just a Product List
Helion360 came in to solve the structural problem, not just fill a spreadsheet. We started by auditing the categories they were already active in, identifying where their current process was working and where it was breaking down.
From there, we designed a sourcing methodology built around three evaluation layers: demand velocity using BSR trend analysis, competitive density using keyword and listing data, and supplier availability cross-referenced against pricing thresholds that supported a viable margin. Every product that moved through the framework was scored against consistent criteria — removing subjectivity from what had previously been a judgment-heavy process.
We also documented the full workflow so the client's internal team could execute it independently. The goal was always a transferable system, not a dependency.
What the Data Made Possible
Once the framework was in place, the speed and quality of sourcing decisions improved significantly. Research time per SKU dropped by more than half. The client's team could move through category analysis with clear decision rules rather than starting from scratch on each product evaluation.
More importantly, the consistency of sourcing outcomes improved. Products entering their pipeline were backed by data that accounted for seasonality, competitor behavior, and realistic sell-through rates. Margin predictability increased, and the volume of viable product leads grew as the team became more efficient at applying the methodology.
