The Research Challenge
Entering the Amazon FBA supplement space without a clear product strategy is a fast path to wasted budget. For this client — a health and wellness startup — the challenge was not ambition but precision. They needed to know exactly which supplement categories had genuine demand gaps, and which ones were too competitive or too regulated to enter profitably.
The scope spanned vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements, protein powders, and functional nutrition products. With that many variables in play, the only way to generate useful findings was through a disciplined, data-first approach.
How We Structured the Research
Helion360 built the research process around three core questions: Where is demand strong? Where is competition weak? And where does regulatory risk stay manageable?
We started by mapping keyword search trends and estimated sales volumes across supplement categories on Amazon. From there, we identified listings where customer reviews revealed consistent unmet needs — poor formulations, misleading labels, or missing product variants — each signaling an opening for a better-positioned product.
Competitive analysis followed for every shortlisted category. We examined pricing structures, brand authority levels, listing quality, and review velocity to gauge how difficult each market segment would be to enter. All findings were filtered through current FDA supplement compliance requirements to ensure every recommendation was both commercially attractive and legally sound.
What We Delivered
The final report covered eight supplement categories and surfaced twelve prioritized product opportunities. Each entry in the opportunity matrix included estimated monthly demand, average price benchmarks, competitive density scores, and a compliance summary — everything the client needed to begin supplier outreach without conducting additional research.
The report was organized by opportunity tier so the client's team could focus on the highest-confidence entries first. Helion360 also included market sizing context for each category, giving the startup a clearer picture of the revenue potential they were stepping into.
