The Research Challenge
Finding product opportunities on Amazon sounds straightforward until you add real constraints. Our client needed high-volume products with fewer than 10 active sellers, no battery requirements, and large physical dimensions. Each filter alone is manageable. All three together eliminate the vast majority of the marketplace.
High-demand categories naturally attract competition, so the low-seller threshold required us to look beyond obvious product types and dig into subcategories where demand exists but seller density has not caught up. Adding the battery-free and large-dimension requirements narrowed the field further — but those constraints also signal a genuinely defensible market position for whoever moves early.
How We Approached the Research
Helion360 structured this engagement around a layered filtering system rather than an open-ended search. We started by identifying high-sales-volume products and categories using marketplace sales rank signals and estimated monthly unit movement, focusing on products with consistent demand rather than trend-driven spikes.
From there, we applied the competition filter — removing any product or subcategory with more than 10 active sellers. We then screened out battery-dependent products, followed by a dimensional review to confirm large physical size. Every product that made it to the final output had cleared all four checkpoints. Nothing was included on instinct alone.
What the Research Delivered
The final deliverable was a focused, structured research report — not a bloated spreadsheet of maybes. Each product opportunity included supporting sales data context and a brief competitive landscape note explaining why it qualified. The client could see both the opportunity and the reasoning behind it.
This kind of research work requires discipline in scoping and rigor in filtering. Helion360 applied both. The client walked away with a shortlist they could bring directly to sourcing conversations, without needing to validate the data themselves or wade through irrelevant entries.
