The Research Challenge
Acquire.com operates at the intersection of startup sales, business brokerage, and online marketplace dynamics — a space that is growing quickly but not always well-documented. When we took on this project, the client needed a research deliverable that went well beyond a basic competitive overview.
The scope was intentionally broad: market trends, competitive positioning, user demographics, and growth opportunities all had to be addressed with equal rigor. The real difficulty was not finding information — it was knowing which data mattered, how to contextualize it, and how to connect each finding to a strategic recommendation the client could act on.
Our Research Methodology
We structured the engagement in phases to keep the analysis focused. We began with a competitive landscape review, mapping the key players in the online business acquisition space and benchmarking Acquire.com across pricing, user experience, listing volume, and target audience. This gave us a clear picture of where the platform stood relative to its direct and indirect competitors.
From there, we built out a user demographics profile by drawing on publicly available behavioral data, platform reviews, and third-party research sources. We looked at both sides of the marketplace — buyers and sellers — and identified patterns in how each group engages with the platform. Traffic indicators and deal activity data were layered in to provide a sense of platform momentum and market traction.
Helion360 also conducted market sizing analysis to estimate the addressable opportunity and identify which segments represented the highest growth potential.
What We Delivered
The final output was a structured, presentation-ready research report organized into clearly defined sections. Each section moved from data to insight to recommendation, ensuring the client could use the findings directly in strategic discussions and stakeholder presentations.
The competitive analysis surfaced several positioning gaps that represented real opportunities. The growth section outlined three strategic directions, each grounded in market data rather than assumption. The market research component provided a reliable sizing baseline that the client had not previously had access to in a consolidated form.
Helion360 delivered the full comprehensive market analysis within the agreed timeline, requiring no revision cycles on structure or scope. The client had a clean, complete document ready to use.
