The Scope of the Challenge
Preparing for an SBIR/STTR workshop backed by NIH, NSF, and DOD is not a simple presentation task. Our client needed four complete, agency-specific PowerPoint presentations — each 30 to 40 slides — built and polished within two weeks. Every deck had to communicate complex technical ideas clearly enough to persuade a panel of expert evaluators.
The difficulty wasn't just volume. It was precision. Each sponsoring agency evaluates proposals through a different lens, and the presentations had to reflect that without losing the core innovation narrative the client was building across all four submissions.
How We Approached It
Helion360 began by mapping the evaluation priorities of each agency before a single slide was designed. NIH required clinical grounding and scientific evidence. NSF rewarded novelty and societal impact. DOD needed operational context and feasibility. Understanding those distinctions shaped every structural and editorial decision we made.
We built a shared design system first — templates, layout grids, typography, and color — so the presentations felt like a family of documents rather than four disconnected decks. Then we moved through each presentation in sequence: outlining the narrative, drafting the content, building the visuals, and editing for clarity and conciseness.
Source material from the client — technical documentation, research summaries, and concept notes — was translated into slide-ready language throughout. Every bullet point was written to inform, not pad. Every visual was chosen to support the message on that specific slide.
What We Delivered
All four presentations were completed on time and within scope. Each deck ran between 30 and 40 slides with no filler content. The narrative arc across each presentation moved logically from problem context through proposed innovation to anticipated outcomes — the structure evaluators expect from serious SBIR/STTR submissions.
The client had sufficient time for internal review and practice runs before the workshop, which was a deliberate part of our delivery plan. Helion360 built buffer into the production schedule specifically so the client wouldn't be working from a rushed draft.
