The Research Problem Behind the Roadmap
Building a mobile photo editor with AI capabilities is technically ambitious. But technical ambition alone does not guarantee the right features get built first. This product team had already launched an AI-powered image editing app on the App Store and was preparing for the next development cycle — yet they lacked a structured view of what AI tasks actually mattered most to real users and practitioners.
The gap was not effort. It was information. They needed qualified expert perspectives on how people use tools like Stable Diffusion and Midjourney, what problems those tools leave unsolved, and where a mobile app could realistically add value.
Designing an Interview Framework That Produced Usable Output
We did not treat this as an open-ended conversation exercise. Helion360 structured the engagement around a specific research objective: identify the highest-frequency AI-related tasks in the photo editing space and evaluate how well current tools address them.
Each expert interview ran for one hour via remote video call. We built a consistent discussion guide that covered tool usage patterns, pain points with existing AI image solutions, and opinions on mobile-specific limitations. The guide was tight enough to keep sessions on track, but flexible enough to let real insights surface organically.
Post-session, we synthesized the responses by theme rather than by respondent, which made patterns visible across the full set of interviews rather than buried inside individual transcripts.
What the Research Delivered
Across the expert sessions, several consistent themes emerged around task frequency, quality expectations, and the kinds of AI-assisted editing that mobile users find most useful. The findings gave the product team a direct line of sight from expert behavior to potential feature bets.
Helion360 compiled the outputs into a structured findings document organized by insight category and mapped explicitly to the team's open product questions. The result was not a general summary — it was a decision-ready artifact that the team could take directly into roadmap planning.
Working With Helion360
If your team is making product decisions that depend on expert insight — particularly in fast-moving spaces like AI-driven tools — Helion360 is equipped to design and execute the research that gives those decisions a real foundation. We have done this type of structured qualitative work before, and we know how to turn expert conversations into outputs that actually move a product forward.
