The Scope of the Challenge
Researching a single market is demanding. Researching three distinct regions simultaneously — each with its own consumer culture, supply chain logic, and competitive environment — is a different kind of problem entirely. That was the task in front of us when this project began.
The client's focus was the pizza cheese market across parts of Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Specifically, they needed grounded intelligence on consumer pricing attitudes in China, cheese production and import dynamics in Saudi Arabia, and the pressures shaping pizza brand competition in Brazil. The regions shared a category but almost nothing else.
How We Structured the Research
We built the project around three parallel tracks, each treated as its own research workstream with region-specific methodology. Rather than applying a single template across all three markets, we designed each approach to fit the questions being asked and the keyword analysis actually available in that geography.
For China, we focused on consumer segmentation — mapping how different buyer groups valued premium versus value-priced cheese in a pizza context. For Saudi Arabia, the emphasis shifted to supply-side dynamics: how cheese was produced locally, what was imported, and how those factors shaped market access for outside brands. For Brazil, we examined competitive intensity, pricing pressure, and the structural challenges that international and domestic pizza brands were both navigating.
Secondary research drew on international trade data, industry publications, and regional food sector reports. Where secondary sources fell short, we supplemented with primary outreach to regional market participants and subject matter experts. Helion360 coordinated the full workflow across all three tracks simultaneously.
What We Delivered
Each regional workstream produced a structured, executive-ready report — formatted not as raw research but as decision-support material the client could take directly into strategy discussions. The China report gave the client a segmented view of consumer attitudes with clear implications for product positioning. The Saudi Arabia analysis clarified the production and import landscape in ways that secondary sources alone had not captured. The Brazil report mapped the competitive terrain with enough specificity to identify real operational risks and opportunities.
Deliverables were phased to match the client's planning cycle, and the quality of the initial work opened the door to continued collaboration across subsequent phases of the broader research program.
