The Challenge Across Three Very Different Industries
Building lead lists sounds straightforward until you are doing it across three industries that share almost nothing in common. Funeral homes, real estate companies, and nonprofits each have different organizational hierarchies, different data footprints, and very different norms around who receives outreach and how.
The client had started pulling contacts from generic sources but quickly ran into the same problem most teams hit: volume without quality. Lists full of outdated emails, wrong titles, and contacts who had no decision-making authority. What they needed was not more data — they needed the right data, organized and verified at the source.
How We Structured the Research
Helion360 approached this as three separate research projects running in parallel under one unified methodology. Before sourcing a single contact, we mapped the decision-maker landscape for each vertical individually — identifying which titles actually held purchasing or partnership authority in funeral homes, real estate firms, and nonprofits.
For funeral homes, that meant owners and licensed funeral directors. For real estate, it was broker-owners and property managers depending on firm size. For nonprofits, we focused on executive directors and development officers based on the client's outreach intent.
With those definitions in place, we matched each vertical to its most reliable data sources — industry associations, public business registries, LinkedIn, regional directories, and nonprofit disclosure databases. Every contact was cross-verified before being added to the final list.
What We Delivered
The final output was three clean, segmented contact databases — one per vertical — each with standardized fields covering name, title, organization, contact details, and geographic region. Contact accuracy came in above 90% on initial verification, meaning the client could move straight into outreach without additional cleaning.
Beyond the immediate deliverable, the research framework we built is repeatable. The client now has a documented vertical-by-vertical methodology they can apply to future prospecting cycles, which extends the value of this work considerably.
