The Research Challenge Behind a Time-Sensitive Launch
When a Bermuda-based startup came to us ahead of a major product launch, they had two urgent needs: credible market research and retail shelf photography that reflected the real competitive landscape on the ground. With a launch event approaching fast, there was no room for slow turnarounds or surface-level work.
The complexity here was rooted in geography and specificity. Bermuda is a small, distinct market. Generic research pulled from global databases would not reflect local pricing dynamics, shelf behavior, or consumer preferences. The work required genuine local engagement — both in how data was gathered and how retail environments were documented.
How We Structured the Work
Helion360 split the project into two parallel tracks from the start. The research team focused on building a layered picture of the market — beginning with secondary research to establish the competitive landscape, then moving into primary research to capture what secondary sources could not: direct consumer and retail-level insights specific to Bermuda.
At the same time, we coordinated shelf photography across relevant local retail locations. The goal was not just to take pictures — it was to document shelf placement strategy, competitor packaging, product visibility, and point-of-sale positioning in a way that would be analytically useful. Every frame was intentional.
Both workstreams were designed to feed into each other. Research findings shaped what we looked for in the retail environment, and shelf observations added texture to the data.
What We Delivered
The final output included a structured research report covering both secondary data synthesis and primary findings, alongside a categorized library of shelf photography ready for use in presentations and internal planning documents.
Nothing was handed off in raw form. The research was organized for direct use, and the photography was sorted by retail location, product category, and shelf position. The client had what they needed to walk into their product launch event with clear, evidence-backed positioning decisions already made.
