The design can be beautiful and still fail communicatively if the structure was never resolved.

Finally, the gap between a working draft and a final deliverable is larger than most people expect. A draft that is "basically done" still needs a full alignment pass, a consistency check on every heading and label, a check of all hyperlinks and animations in Slide Show mode, and a round of feedback from someone who was not involved in building it. That review cycle alone typically takes three to four hours on a twenty-slide deck.
