Why Brand Consistency Across Platforms Is Harder Than It Looks
Most brand identity projects start with a single deliverable in mind — a logo, a color palette, maybe a PowerPoint template. What This Kind of Work Actually Requires
Building brand graphics that hold up across platforms is not simply a matter of designing one version and exporting it everywhere. The work requires deliberate decisions at every layer of the system.
First, the core mark — the logo itself — must be designed in vector format from the start. A raster logo embedded in a presentation might look acceptable at 96 dpi on screen, but it will fail the moment it lands on a 300 dpi print file or a large-format banner. Design Logo Variants for Every Context
A single logo mark is almost never enough. A complete logo system for multi-platform use typically includes a full horizontal lockup (logo mark plus wordmark side by side), a stacked vertical lockup, a standalone icon or mark for small applications, and a reversed version for use on dark or colored backgrounds. For digital use, the icon variant should be tested at 32×32 pixels — the size at which it will appear as a browser favicon or app icon — to confirm it reads clearly at that scale.
For a toy brand, this also means testing how the logo reproduces in a single flat color, since manufacturing constraints on packaging sometimes limit the number of colors that can be printed. A logo that only works in full color is a logo that will require expensive workarounds at the production stage.
Social Media and Presentation Templates as System Outputs
Once the core brand system is defined, social media templates and presentation templates should be treated as derived outputs of that system, not separate design projects. What Goes Wrong When This Work Is Rushed
The most common failure is skipping the color calibration step and only defining brand colors in HEX. This seems harmless until the first print run, when the brand's signature color comes back looking dull or shifted. Establishing RGB and CMYK equivalents during the initial system build costs very little time and prevents expensive reprints.
Another frequent problem is building logo files at raster resolution — often because the initial design was done in a tool that doesn't natively output vector files. A 600×600 pixel PNG logo will look acceptable in a PowerPoint deck but will fall apart on a printed banner at anything larger than roughly A4 size. Vector formats are mandatory for any mark that will appear in print.
Inconsistency tends to compound quietly. A presentation that looks balanced at 100% zoom on one monitor can reveal misaligned text boxes and inconsistent padding when viewed on a projector or exported to PDF. Building in a dedicated QA pass — reviewing every asset at its intended output size and format — is not optional if the work is meant to represent a brand professionally.
Finally, many projects produce one-off graphics instead of reusable templates. Every future social post or new deck slide then requires rebuilding from scratch, which means the brand system gradually drifts as shortcuts accumulate.
