The stakes are real. A poorly converted template breaks the moment someone tries to edit a text box. Fonts substitute silently, layouts collapse when content changes, and branded color values drift from the original hex codes. The right approach is to export these elements individually at 150 DPI minimum (300 DPI for anything that will be printed) as PNG files with transparent backgrounds, then embed them as positioned images in the relevant slide layouts.

Font substitution is the second major problem. If the InDesign file uses a licensed typeface that is not installed on end-user machines, PowerPoint will silently substitute a system default — often Calibri — destroying the visual system.
