The challenge went beyond volume. Genomics and bioinformatics sit at a fast-moving intersection of biology and computational science, which means researcher profiles shift frequently. Publications get updated, affiliations change, and niche expertise areas evolve. We needed a methodology that could keep pace with that complexity while still producing clean, reliable data.
Our Research Methodology
We built a structured, multi-source approach from the ground up. Academic databases, university faculty directories, institutional research pages, and professional publication repositories all fed into our collection pipeline. Before any entry made it into the final dataset, it was cross-referenced across at least two independent sources.
Inclusion criteria were defined early: active researchers with verified publications in genomics, bioinformatics, or closely connected disciplines, based at UK institutions. This kept the dataset focused rather than broad. We also used citation tracking to identify the most influential contributors within each subfield, giving the client a built-in way to prioritize outreach.
