The Research Problem Behind the Project
Dropshipping on Amazon is not a single strategy — there is a meaningful difference between retail-sourced fulfillment and wholesale-based dropshipping. For this client, that distinction was critical. A prior account restriction had resulted from sourcing products through retail channels, and the path forward required a clean break from that approach.
What they needed was structured product research drawn entirely from wholesale suppliers that explicitly permit label-free dropshipping. The incoming data from these suppliers arrived in bulk CSV format through their SourceMogul account, covering UPCs, pricing tiers, and product identifiers across thousands of SKUs. Processing that volume manually and accurately was the core of the challenge.
How We Approached the Analysis
Helion360 started by working directly inside the client's SourceMogul account, using the CSV scan lister to process incoming wholesale supplier spreadsheets. The goal was to move efficiently through large data sets while applying a consistent set of filters — margin thresholds, sales rank ceilings, category relevance, and supplier compliance status.
For every product that cleared the initial filter, we pulled live Amazon marketplace data to verify current buy box pricing, review density, and estimated sales velocity. This two-step process ensured that shortlisted products were competitive not just on paper, but in the actual market environment the client was operating in.
Throughout the process, we kept a strict boundary around sourcing eligibility. No product from a retail channel was considered, regardless of how strong the margin looked. The client's compliance situation made this non-negotiable, and our research methodology reflected that.
What the Deliverable Looked Like
The final output was a structured, curated set of wholesale-sourced product opportunities organized by category, estimated margin, sales rank, and sourcing channel. Each item had been verified as compliant with Amazon's dropshipping policy requirements and sourced from suppliers sanctioning label-free fulfillment.
The client did not need to re-run the analysis or manually verify eligibility. The research was delivered in a format ready for immediate action — a shortlist they could move on without additional vetting.
Beyond the immediate deliverable, the work established a repeatable framework. As new supplier CSV files became available, the same methodology could be applied to surface the next batch of qualified products.
