The Challenge
A new bakery with a whimsical, joy-forward personality needed more than just a logo — it needed a character. The client wanted a family of cute cat mascots that could anchor their visual identity across a logo, branded materials, and an original comic book series. The complexity lay in building characters that felt genuinely endearing and consistent enough to live across wildly different formats: the precision of a logo mark, the warmth of brand collateral, and the narrative energy of a comic strip. Designing mascots that could flex across all three without losing their charm or cohesion required both illustration craft and a strong understanding of brand storytelling.
Our Approach
Helion360 began by establishing the character vocabulary — defining the personality, proportions, and expressive range of each cat mascot before committing to any single application. Early concept rounds focused on finding a visual style that felt handcrafted and warm without sacrificing the clarity needed for logo use at small sizes. Once the core character designs were locked, the team adapted them into a scalable brand system. Mascot variations were created for different brand contexts — a simplified silhouette version for the logo mark, expressive full-body poses for packaging and marketing materials, and dynamic sequential panel versions for the comic series. Color palettes, line weights, and expression libraries were documented to ensure the characters remained recognizable and emotionally consistent across every touchpoint.
The Outcome
The project resulted in a complete cat mascot system — including primary and secondary character designs, a logo incorporating the hero mascot, brand identity assets across stationery and packaging, and a foundational comic series featuring the characters in the bakery's world. The bakery received a visual identity built around characters that could grow with the brand, drive customer recognition, and tell an ongoing story through the comic format. The mascots gave the brand a distinctive personality that set it apart in a crowded market, turning a simple bakery into a memorable character-driven experience.
