The Challenge
A Bay Area startup came to us with an ambitious but nuanced brief: they wanted to transform authentic user-generated content from Instagram into a cohesive t-shirt collection that still felt polished, branded, and print-ready. The complexity lay in balancing two competing demands — preserving the raw, community-driven energy of real customer photography while integrating the brand's logo in a way that felt intentional rather than stamped on. UGC images vary widely in resolution, composition, lighting, and color tone, making it genuinely difficult to build a consistent merchandise line without compromising either the authenticity of the content or the integrity of the brand.
Our Approach
Helion360 began by auditing the available UGC pool from the client's Instagram presence, selecting images that offered the strongest visual composition, adequate resolution for print, and alignment with the brand's aesthetic direction. Each selected image was then treated individually — color-corrected and refined to ensure uniform vibrancy across the collection without stripping the organic character that made the UGC compelling in the first place. The brand logo was positioned and scaled on each design with deliberate care, using placement logic that complemented the underlying image rather than competing with it. Mockups were developed for each colorway the client specified, and a structured review cycle was built into the two-week timeline to allow the client to approve designs before any print files were finalized. Clear print-ready file formats were prepared with appropriate bleed, resolution, and color profile specifications to hand off directly to the client's printing partner.
The Outcome
The project delivered a complete set of print-ready t-shirt design files, each combining curated UGC imagery with a cleanly integrated brand identity across the client's chosen color options. The designs preserved the authentic, community-sourced feel the startup valued while presenting a unified merchandise line that reflected a mature brand identity. The client received detailed mockups for each design variant, enabling confident decision-making before committing to a production run. The two-week deadline was met without compromising quality, and the final files were structured for immediate handoff to any standard apparel printer.
