The Challenge
Fuel Innovation had already built meaningful traction with their React Native ride-sharing application, but the product had reached an inflection point where visual design and user experience needed to match the ambition of the underlying technology. The client needed a design team capable of working within an existing codebase ecosystem — not starting from scratch — while simultaneously elevating the interface across both Android and iOS platforms. Balancing platform-specific conventions with a unified brand identity all while aligning with the goals of product managers and engineers, made this a genuinely complex design engagement that required both strategic thinking and pixel-level craft.
Our Approach
Helion360 began with a thorough audit of the existing app flows, identifying friction points in the rider and driver journeys. Rather than imposing a new design language arbitrarily, the team mapped user expectations across both mobile platforms and developed a component-driven design system that could scale across screens and states. Close collaboration with Fuel Innovation's development team ensured that every design decision was feasible within the React Native architecture — avoiding the common trap of aspirational mockups that break in production. Each screen was designed with interaction states, edge cases, and accessibility considerations baked in from the start. Visual hierarchy, iconography, and typography were all chosen to support fast, confident decisions in a mobility context where users are often in motion.
The Outcome
The engagement produced a comprehensive cross-platform UI/UX design for Fuel Innovation's ride-sharing application, covering core user flows for both riders and drivers across Android and iOS. The refreshed interface brought visual consistency, reduced cognitive load at key decision points, and introduced a design system that the internal development team could extend independently. Navigation patterns were streamlined, onboarding was simplified, and the overall aesthetic was elevated to reflect the ambition of a startup poised for its next stage of growth. The client received production-ready design assets alongside documentation to support handoff.
