The Challenge
A San Francisco-based software engineer was in the middle of building a new mobile app and faced a problem that many technically strong founders encounter: the product worked well under the hood, but the way data and information were being presented to users lacked the visual clarity needed to engage a tech-savvy millennial audience aged 18 to 35. The challenge was not simply aesthetic. Complex information had to be distilled into concise, intuitive visual formats that would feel native to a mobile interface, reinforce trust in the product, and reduce cognitive load for first-time users. The design work needed to integrate tightly with an active development cycle, meaning the deliverables had to be production-ready, well-organized, and flexible enough for developers to implement without friction.
Our Approach
Helion360 began with a thorough review of the app's core data flows and user-facing screens to understand what information users were most likely to interact with and where visual complexity was highest. Rather than applying a generic infographic template style, the team developed a visual language tailored specifically to the app's functionality and audience expectations. Data visualizations) were designed with mobile-first constraints in mind — compact layouts, high contrast, and clear typographic hierarchy that would render cleanly on small screens without sacrificing meaning. Infographic elements were built to communicate multi-step processes, comparative data, and feature explanations in a format that felt natural within the app's interface rather than bolted on as an afterthought. Close collaboration with the development team ensured that every asset was delivered in formats and dimensions that aligned with the engineering workflow.
The Outcome
The engagement produced a comprehensive set of data visualization components) and in-app infographic assets that gave the mobile experience a measurably stronger visual identity. Users interacting with complex data could now parse information faster and with less effort, directly supporting the app's goal of making technical content accessible to a non-technical audience. The design assets were delivered in a structured, developer-friendly format, reducing implementation time and enabling the team to move forward with confidence. The visual system established through this project also gave the startup a reusable design foundation) that could scale as new features were added.
Helion360 works regularly with startup teams who need design thinking applied directly to product experience — turning data-heavy interfaces into clear, engaging visual stories.
