The Challenge
A fast-moving tech startup based in San Francisco needed a professionally designed retractable banner to support their upcoming product launch — and they needed it fast. The banner had precise physical specifications: 33 inches wide by 81 inches tall, with the top 1 inch and bottom 3 inches kept completely clear of any text or logos to account for the hardware mechanism. Beyond the dimensional constraints, the client needed a design that could hold its own in a competitive trade or event environment — something that balanced their brand identity with clear promotional messaging while staying true to their visual language. The challenge was not just technical; it was creative. The design had to feel fresh and engaging at first glance while being completely print-ready in vector formats (.ai, .eps, and .svg) with all text outlined and all images fully embedded.
Our Approach
Helion360 began by reviewing the brand assets provided by the client — including the company logo and promotional copy — and mapping them to the safe-zone constraints of the retractable banner format. The layout was structured so that the brand mark commanded strong visual presence in the upper display area while the promotional messaging cascaded naturally through the mid-section, creating a clear visual hierarchy that guides the viewer's eye from top to bottom. Typography was handled with careful attention to legibility at large print scales, and every text element was converted to outlines to ensure zero font-dependency issues at the print stage. All imagery and graphic elements were embedded directly within the source files, eliminating any risk of missing links during production. The final deliverables were exported cleanly in .ai, .eps, and .svg formats — fully compliant with professional print production standards.
The Outcome
The client received a complete, print-ready retractable banner design that adhered to all dimensional and technical specifications without compromise. The finished artwork maintained the required safe zones at the top and bottom, presented the brand with clarity and confidence across the full display area, and was handed off in three industry-standard vector formats ready for immediate submission to any commercial printer. The design struck the balance the startup was looking for — professional enough to stand alongside established brands at events, yet distinctive enough to reflect the energy of a new product entering the market.
