The Challenge
The organizers of SALAAM: Halal Tourism and Trade Expo Philippines 2024 needed a logo that could carry the weight of a culturally significant event while remaining broadly accessible and commercially compelling. The expo was designed to spotlight the economic and cultural importance of halal tourism and trade across the Philippines and Southeast Asia — a context that demanded visual sensitivity, strategic clarity, and cross-audience appeal. The logo had to resonate with tourists, travel enthusiasts, and trade professionals simultaneously, reflect brand values of community, authenticity, and forward-thinking, and perform equally well across digital platforms and large-format print collateral. Striking that balance without defaulting to cliché or overused regional motifs required a deliberate creative approach.
Our Approach
Helion360 began with a thorough brief analysis, mapping the event's core values — community, authenticity, and forward momentum — against the visual language most likely to land with its diverse target audience. Rather than leaning on a single cultural reference, the design direction was built around a visual concept that united heritage symbolism with clean, modern form. The team explored typographic treatments that honored the SALAAM name while ensuring legibility at scale, from event banners to mobile screens. Color palette selection was guided by the need to evoke warmth, trust, and cultural richness without alienating trade-focused stakeholders. Multiple concept directions were developed and refined, with each iteration tested against real-world use cases including event signage, digital promotions, and print materials. A detailed creative rationale was prepared alongside the final files to give the client full transparency into the design decisions.
The Outcome
The final logo delivered for SALAAM 2024 was a distinctive, versatile mark that balanced cultural depth with contemporary design sensibility. It was provided in multiple format variations to support both digital and print applications, ensuring consistent brand presence across every touchpoint of the event — from social media campaigns and event websites to exhibition banners and printed programs. The creative rationale document gave the organizing team a clear foundation for extending the identity into future brand materials. The design successfully communicated the spirit of the expo: a celebration of halal tourism and trade that is rooted in cultural authenticity but positioned confidently for a modern, regional audience.
Helion360 brings the same level of cultural intelligence and design precision to every brand identity project, ensuring the final mark is not just visually compelling but strategically sound.
