The Challenge
A San Francisco-based technology startup came to us with a clear vision but a complex creative brief: take their existing logo and evolve it into something that felt native to the future. They wanted a chrome-like aesthetic — holographic, translucent, and visually transmissive — that would resonate with early adopters of innovative technology and position the brand as a serious player in a competitive, design-conscious market. The difficulty was not just technical. Achieving a convincing chrome and holographic finish requires an understanding of light behavior, surface rendering, and material simulation that goes far beyond standard logo design. The final asset also needed to work across digital environments — from website headers to investor pitch decks — without losing its visual impact or sense of depth. The client needed results within a two-week window, adding urgency to what was already a technically demanding creative challenge.
Our Approach
Helion360 began by auditing the original logo geometry to understand which structural elements would best lend themselves to a reflective, light-refracting treatment. Rather than simply applying a chrome gradient overlay, the team rebuilt the logo's surface properties from the ground up, treating it as a three-dimensional object responding to simulated environmental light. The holographic layer was developed by mapping iridescent color shifts across the surface — cycling through spectrum tones in a way that mimics real-world holographic foil behavior. A translucent pass was then composited over the chrome base to give the logo a sense of depth and material complexity. Throughout the process, multiple rendering variations were explored to ensure the final output retained legibility and brand recall even at smaller display sizes. All deliverables were exported in formats optimized for digital use, including layered source files for future adaptations.
The Outcome
The project was completed within the agreed two-week timeline, delivering a fully rendered chrome holographic logo mark alongside multiple format exports ready for immediate deployment. The client received a brand asset that communicated technological sophistication at a glance — one that felt consistent with the visual language of frontier tech brands while remaining distinctly their own. The new mark gave the startup a credible, design-forward identity to carry into product launches, investor presentations, and digital marketing campaigns.
Helion360 regularly works with startups and technology brands that need visual identity work pushed beyond conventional design boundaries — transforming brand marks into assets that make an impression before a single word is read.
