The Challenge
A vintage clothing startup came to us with a clear creative ambition but a complex design problem: they wanted to evoke genuine nostalgia — the warmth of old-school fashion and the emotional pull of a simpler era — while still feeling current, edgy, and relevant to a modern audience of fashion enthusiasts and style-conscious consumers. The brand needed to speak to history buffs and trend-setters simultaneously, which meant every visual decision had to balance authenticity with freshness. There was no existing visual language to build from, no brand assets in place — just a vision and a strong point of view. Creating a cohesive identity system from scratch, one that could hold up across merchandise, marketing materials, and digital touchpoints, required both deep aesthetic sensitivity and structured creative thinking.
Our Approach
Helion360 began with an in-depth discovery phase, mapping the brand's emotional territory — the specific decades it drew inspiration from, the audience archetypes it needed to connect with, and the tonal line between vintage authenticity and contemporary appeal. From there, the team developed multiple logo directions, each rooted in a distinct era of design history but refined with modern proportions, spacing, and scalability in mind. Concept sketches and early-stage mockups were shared at each milestone, allowing for collaborative feedback before finalizing directions. Custom typography was developed to complement the logo system, drawing from condensed serif and distressed script traditions while remaining legible and versatile. The color palette was built around warm, desaturated tones reminiscent of faded print and aged fabric — earthy browns, dusty mustards, and muted teals — balanced with a single high-contrast accent to inject the fresh, edgy energy the brand required. All elements were assembled into a structured brand identity system with clear usage guidelines, ensuring consistency across every application.
The Outcome
The final deliverables included a primary logo and two alternate lockups, a custom type treatment for brand headlines, a five-color palette with defined primary and accent roles, and a set of branded mockups showing the identity applied to apparel tags, tote bags, and social media templates. The startup received a complete, production-ready brand identity system — one that communicates a coherent story from the first glance, resonates emotionally with its target audience, and gives the team the visual tools they need to launch with confidence.
